What Makes the Perfect Groomsmen

If you’re reading this, then chances are you’ve been asked to be a groomsmen and have no idea what that means or what you should do. Well, have no fear because Lowcountry Bride has got you covered! We have compiled 4 simple tips for you to use as guidelines for the days leading up to the day that the groom says “I Do!”

  1. Offer to help the Bride & Groom: Planning the big day can be very stressful for the Bride and Groom. There are many things that they have to do to ensure that the wedding day goes as perfectly as possible. They have to pick the wedding food, attire, invitations, venue, decor, and the list keeps going on. For this reason, any kind of help that you can offer will be greatly appreciated by the Bride and Groom. No matter how small the task is, its one less thing that they have to worry about.
  2. Don’t Procrastinate: Do not, we repeat, DO NOT, wait until the last minute to do any thing that the Bride and Groom has asked you to do, such as: sending in your tux measurements, writing your speeches, picking up the Groom’s tux, etc. A delay in any of your groomsmen-tasks will cause a lot of stress for the Bride and Groom and a tremendous amount of guilt on your end.
  3. Help Plan the Bachelor Party: Even though this is the Best Man’s job, it can be quite the bear of a task. After all, the Groom will always remember his bachelor party for the rest of his life, which makes it a task that no one would want to come up short on. So lend a hand and help plan with the Best Man as much as possible. Try to think about what the Groom’s interests and what he enjoys most, and incorporate those things into the bachelor party.
  4. Don’t Steal the Show: Yes, the reception party is going to be fun with dancing, laughter, and maybe a few too many drinks, but this doesn’t give you an excuse to have a little too much fun and steal the show from the Bride and Groom. It is their big day after all, not yours. Don’t get us wrong, by all means dance the night away, talk to a few cute bridesmaids and make life-long memories with your fellow groomsmen. Just don’t become that guy who knocks over the food table or throws up on a bridesmaid. That would certainly be a memory that you would not want to last a lifetime.
