A Charleston Lowcountry Wedding | Lowcountry Bride

Because of how hot it is in Charleston, Hunter and Carson decided to have their first look and bride and groom portraits in the morning at Mepkin Abbey before it became 100 degrees outside. It was still in the high 80s and low 90s during portraits but you wouldn’t even know it! You could just see how happy they both were to be getting married! They even stopped at the Biggin Church Ruins on the way to Mepkin Abbey to grab a couple bridal portraits of Carson before the sun was completely over head and we are so happy that they did that because these ruins were so beautiful! They have all of these old arches that we helped Carson up to.

For first look and bride and groom portraits, Mepkin Abbey is this gorgeous park about 15 minutes from Lewisfield Plantation. It’s on the water and the driveway to the gardens is lined with these beautiful oak trees that are completely covered in spanish moss!

The bride and groom chose to exchange vows at a beautiful little church called St. John’s Baptist Church, which was founded in 1851! The family had cookies and treats after the ceremony while they finished up family formals, and then they celebrated by throwing rice at Hunter and Carson as they left the church to head to downtown Charleston for a reception dinner at Oak Steakhouse.
